Unicorn Lover

Unicorn Lover

Zeenah (officially 7 now) is beyond obsessed with Unicorns…..I think she counts unicorns in her sleep!!

Before we move to Canada (December 2016 ) she was so distraught about not being able to celebrate her birthday with her closest friends…I could totally relate to her as its such a big change mixed with so many emotions. I couldn’t bare the thought of her never forgiving me of depriving her with one last big bash. I tried to ignore it as much as I can but as the departure date was getting closer I decided to do something…..

So what did I come up with…..A “fake” birthday off course!!!  As my house was chaos of boxes half unpacked and couldn’t bare the thought of planning a full fledged birthday I decided to actually give in and have it somewhere….. it was a mix of Unicorn and Spa.

I booked a full Spa birthday at Sparkle Nail Spa in Discovery Mall. It was a full day of pampering Zeenah’s closest friends followed by lunch at Chillis and obviously her Cake.

The girls were all pampered from head to toe! Nailpolish, hair, makeup and fancy tattoo art. I found the cutest thing when they all were attempting to carry Zeenah…..and she loved every moment of attention.

No birthday is ever complete without a family group picture….this in particular I love because you can see my mommy in the background!!!

She made sure I made a Unicorn topper and decorated with Rainbow Meringues……

I think I did good in Making Life Memorable twice over for that matter when it comes to her 7th Birthday!!!! Stay tuned for a post about her “Real” birthday with her New friends.

Zeenah’s 4th Birthday

Zeenah’s 4th Birthday

I sometimes feel like March is the end of celebration season for me. We go from the high of October through September with a break in January. Then the Rush of February and March then comes SILENCE! Until the cycle returns.

If you’ve been following me this past almost year then you know how serious I am about celebrations. If this is your first read you need to know that almost every “Occasion” post comes in many parts so stay tuned because I usually have A LOT to say and share.

I take pride in almost every planning detail of every event I host. No matter how small or big I must have something special. Thankfully I have instilled that same trait in my children and it has also rubbed off on my husband. The First step in my birthday planning process for the girls is to ask them what Theme they would like. Off course many times I “veto” and “probe” but many times I like the suggestion they come up with.

Zee4th
Zeenah declared her 4th birthday as a “Lady Bug” theme and I was oh too eager to oblige! So much I can work with I was over the moon!! As you can see I also managed to dress her up in theme (which she insisted on having her sister have the same dress too.) Over and above that she asked me to make her a ladybug crown because according to her the guests won’t know who the birthday girl is…. not sure why she would think that since everyone was coming because it was HER birthday….not that I minded off course!

The most exciting thought was the Piñata…. I used to dream about it!!! And oooohhhhh the use of paper Mache, Who doesn’t like a good old fashioned mess??

So stay tuned on all my DIYs, Pictures and fun of Making Life Memorable!

It’s Birthday Season

It’s Birthday Season

Now that the girls are back in school and we’re getting back into the routine we also have the joys of attending birthdays.

This year we’ve started early and strong!!! Two birthdays back to back the first weekend since school started.

I’m the kind of gal that enjoys hosting birthdays and parties at home. Many choose to go with the outside venues like fast food chains or “kid places” like Baroue, Infunity and the likes. It does make everything easier but I find it a little impersonal.

Just like I had the “back to school” week on my blog I’m making this week “Birthday Week”

I’ll talk about themes, birthday menus, gifts and lots of DIY things you can do to make your child’s birthday a special and memorable one.

First thing I’m going to talk about is deciding on a theme.

Have your kids involved but not too involved or else you might end up bending over backwards for them. Here’s the trick. Give them choices of themes you actually want or are willing to spend time preparing for.

Choose things they already like but guide them through the decision, they’ll end up thinking it was their idea to begin with.

The latest movie, cartoon character or action figure might appeal to your child but if it’s tooooo complicated to create you’re only setting yourself up to go bonkers!

When choosing a themes it HAS to be something workable not only in decoration but also in entertainment and games. Yes there’s more to a birthday than just cake!

At the same time try not to over think it, sometimes space to just run around is all the kids want. So if you had planned on 5 games and only did 2 don’t fuss and force them to all stand in line to play “pin the tail on the donkey”, enjoy the company of the other mommies instead (says the mom that doesn’t sit!)

Do your research before hand and the trick is to pre-plan everything. In Kuwait it’s hard to just go out to the “dollar store” and find it all. I wish it was that easy.

So if you have a theme in advance every time you visit a “bu miya” or any where else you might find one or two things that you can just stock up on in advance.

Off course there’s always online ordering, the cure of all. But be careful because you might go way over your budget because of shipping costs.

I’ll leave you now with a list (in no particular order) of things you to consider for your child’s next birthday. And stay tuned for details on almost ALL of them!
