Back in Time….Part II

Back in Time….Part II

As with every second child there’s always a guilt factor of giving more attention to the first….. I think we all end up trying to overcompensate….Fact of the matter is no matter how we justify it the first will always have firsts and seconds will always have it second.

The love for them is the same but…. somehow different. In my head it sounded to make sense. I’m probably saying what many mommies wither completely disagree with or think it but won’t admit it.

Don’t take me wrong, second child is the one that has more will to get what they want. They have a personality that is the go getter (at least mine is!) They have Pizzazz and spunk.. REAL spunk. They are not afraid to say what’s exactly on their mind.

So because I have the mom guilt of highlighting Jennah in my “Back in time”  post and I must be fair here’s Zeenah’s Then and now!

Then….

Now….

Making Life Memorable equally!

Cinco De Mayo

Cinco De Mayo

I believe I may have been Hispanic in my past life and funny enough there were many times when I was in college (in Austin, Texas) that so many people would speak to me in Spanish assuming I was. I probably disappointed them when I’d reply in Arabic just for kicks!

Looking back at the 4 years when I was there I really should have lived up “Cinco De Mayo” a lot more. Off course I find myself looking back at MANY situations now and thinking “If only I knew then what I know now” The good thing is as we grow we realize the importance of the little things and try to make up for it all.

So because the weekend is always crammed with all sorts of things and weather is unpredictable we decided to seize the day and have a Barbecue a little earlier….

Soon on the blog will be the recipe for the Maple Pecan Chocolate Balls

Making Life Memorable with every meal!

Back in Time

Back in Time

I think there’s a moment in every mom’s life that she sees a video (or picture) of her child and realizes “Holy Moly” they’ve grown so much. Was I awake for all of it??

Obviously that’s what happened to me when I was looking for a specific picture on my external hard drive…. I just replayed, replayed and replayed it over and over again.

It was going down memory lane and realizing all those cliches about our children growing. Don’t take me wrong I love every age and I’m more than happy not to have to go through potty training but I wish I was a little bit more relaxed about all the details so that I can actually enjoy my girls more.

Then…..

Now…

Making life Memorable no matter what stage of your life you’re in.

Go with the flow…..

Go with the flow…..
Go with the flow…..

I find that there’s a similarity between living in Kuwait and Canada…..Sounds totally out of wack I know but it involves the weather.

There were many times when I would have the perfect plan of how I would like to spend my day….Ha ha ha! Jokes on me, you can’t always plan especially when there are so many external forces working in another direction.

So many times when we were in Kuwait I would have the best outdoor plan to take the girls and we wake up on the day and it’s just way to dusty to go out let alone spend the day outdoors.

Well much to my surprise we have cancelled several “outdoor” plans in Canada because of too much snow!!! When we thought it had all cleared up we wake up to a few inches of snow and spend it at the mall or movies instead.

So when I planned the girls’ Easter weekend to go to an Easter event at Prairie Gardens and realize its not happening when read online:

* Hop! Into Spring Festival – Cancelled *
Due to the extremely wet, snowy and muddy conditions – we’re sorry to announce that we’re cancelling the Hop! Into Spring Festival this weekend (April 29 & 30). Apologies for any inconvenience.

We just had to change the plan and just do something in the warmth of the indoors….West Edmonton Mall it was!!!

Stay tuned to see our visit to Prairie Gardens!

Making Like Memorable no matter what challenges we face!!

Memories of April

Memories of April

I’ve decided that the last day of each month I’m going to post a gallery of pictures of some of my highlights for the whole month….. I may decide just to put the pictures or possibly have some commentary all depends on my inspiration

Here goes my first in the series……………………………

Making Life Memorable our way!

Thrive in Thrive

Thrive in Thrive
Thrive in Thrive

One thing I know to be true is that we’re always looking for the next best thing. From health, products, food, and even jobs, what’s in and what’s considered last year’s news.

I may have stumbled on something that is the new wave of the future….. Thrive Life products and it makes sense…..

Instead of dehydrating they flash freeze then freeze dry…… Up until I went to the Thrive Event I didn’t even know there was such a thing nor did I know the difference. I’m not going to go scientific but basically freeze dried packs in all the nutrients while dehydrating dissolves it all.

The advantages of the Thrive products is that they are cost effective (you don’t throw away spoiled food as much), tasty, quick (my personal favorite especially when it comes to chopping onions), quality, convenient and healthy.

So what’s the difference??? Well what you’re going to see next blew me away. To think I prefer fresh and get surprised by something like this was pretty shocking to say the least….

So far you think yes that’s a process not so bad no real big issue until………

Don’t get me wrong I still buy fresh produce but to have a few staples in my pantry is surely added value!

Join me in Making Life Memorable and staying healthy!

Don’t save that Glitter!!!

Don’t save that Glitter!!!

In my big move from Kuwait to Canada I was faced with the extreme challenge of putting my life into boxes….. A lifetime of memories, accumulating and collecting was put to the test of ” attempt to sell”, “Give Away”, “Save” or “Pack”.

For every website, Pin, organizing list it was universal in its advice. Sound simple until you actually have to do it! This is in no way a post to help you in packing on the contrary it’s about how you should live leading up to the point of needing to pack.

I always took pride in my double closet in my home office/craft room filled with everything your heart desires when it comes to crafting materials. It was really a miniature craft store on its own from paints, card stock, colored  papers, paintbrushes, crafting tools, Styrofoam , felt, fabric, ribbons, wrapping papers, beads, an array of canvases, paint brushes, sketchbooks, floral supplies and most importantly GLITTER.

In my mind there’s glitter and there’s GLITTER. To the normal person they really sound/look the same. Nope!! not for me. There was regular glitter that I let my girls use and splurge on and there’s GLITTER that was “special glitter” that the girls were only allowed to admire from afar and I was the only one that used it sparingly.

Then the day came that I opened my wonderfully organized and stocked up closet and I had to part with it AAAALLLLL….. The cost of shipping could not be justified in comparison to buying everything new was my husbands perspective, Logic says he’s right but then there’s my crafting logic screaming internally “Precious….its precious!”

I replayed in my head all the times we didn’t use the GLITTER while crafting and the life lesson hit me. Never save anything for that “special” day. Use it and abuse it because you never know where life takes you and you end up looking back like I did at all the missed chances to enjoy it.

So don’t forget use that GLITTER while Making Life Memorable before you have to give it away!!!

Things I love

Things I love

There’s one thing that always makes me feel complete and that’s my hair…..I am done with ponytails and buns ever since I bought this one piece of equipment….by far this is my favorite curler ever.

Something quick and easy to complete any look and that’s the Infiniti Pro by Conair Curl Secret

It’s one of those things that has made me wonder how I ever survived without it!!! This helps Making life Memorable with the perfect curls….

Lunchbox and Schedules

Lunchbox and Schedules

I always like to make sure that my kids eat healthy and have a variety of foods so to avoid getting bored of the same packed lunches. When you have a busy schedule like our households planning comes a long way.

The first thing is to figure out a system and lists is the way to go!!! Yest at times life kinda gets in the way and your find yourself limited because you haven’t had time to go to the grocery store. That’s when you may resort to making unhealthy choices because lets face it “It’s Easy!” To avoid that I kinda have some sort of “Go To” choice that may not be completely healthy but its not junky.

My “Go To”, now remember 2 kids mean 2 different taste buds, so my quick fix that i make sure I never run out of in the house is…….. Turkey sandwich (bread for J and lettuce wrap for Zee) pickles on the side, no one likes a soggy sandwich! Cheese cubes, cucumber and apple slices. What’s your “Go To”?? Share in the comment section!

Maybe one day I’ll be fancy enough to make one of those fast videos of me prepping a lunch box  after all its also pushing my boundaries and  Making Life Memorable along the way!!
