Go with the flow…..

Go with the flow…..
Go with the flow…..

I find that there’s a similarity between living in Kuwait and Canada…..Sounds totally out of wack I know but it involves the weather.

There were many times when I would have the perfect plan of how I would like to spend my day….Ha ha ha! Jokes on me, you can’t always plan especially when there are so many external forces working in another direction.

So many times when we were in Kuwait I would have the best outdoor plan to take the girls and we wake up on the day and it’s just way to dusty to go out let alone spend the day outdoors.

Well much to my surprise we have cancelled several “outdoor” plans in Canada because of too much snow!!! When we thought it had all cleared up we wake up to a few inches of snow and spend it at the mall or movies instead.

So when I planned the girls’ Easter weekend to go to an Easter event at Prairie Gardens and realize its not happening when read online:

* Hop! Into Spring Festival – Cancelled *
Due to the extremely wet, snowy and muddy conditions – we’re sorry to announce that we’re cancelling the Hop! Into Spring Festival this weekend (April 29 & 30). Apologies for any inconvenience.

We just had to change the plan and just do something in the warmth of the indoors….West Edmonton Mall it was!!!

Stay tuned to see our visit to Prairie Gardens!

Making Like Memorable no matter what challenges we face!!

There’s an obsession I have with Pinterest I think I’ve got over 8K pins on mt 120 boards and increasing daily! I’m infatuated yet I can’t say I have actually done most of them.

Granted I do draw many inspirations from them and I would like to commit to starting crossing the ones I’ve done out. Just for self satisfaction. I don’t think the pin gods are looking down at me and shaking their head at all the “unmade” pins I have.

Since I’m a roll on making changes to my life I have decided that I will “Pin Post”. Not sure if that’s even a word but if it does start a trend then at least I started it…..

So Pin Post is my version of choosing something on pinterest, making it, documenting it as best as I can and posting about it…..whether it was fun, successful, enjoyable and the similarity of what I made in comparison to the actual pin.

I may even try to do a poll out of it…or some sort of voting on what I should try next…..

Dental Experiences

Dental Experiences

I have the pleasure of being extremely experienced dental patient. I’ve thankfully become very immune to fear of dentists very early on in my life. With basically a full mouth of worked on teeth from basic fillings, crowns, root canals, veneers and implants I’ve had them all…..

With starting a new chapter of my life and moving to Canada one of the first things I had to find (after a Salon to do my roots off course!!) was a dentist…..

That’s when I conveniently met Dr. Amr at the Snowflake festival while he was volunteering. He was super friendly and I instantly felt comfortable. I could only imagine what he would be like as my dentist.

Next step was actually to make an appointment….That took a while but I finally got around to it and went into his clinic.

It was meticulous, clean and amazingly welcoming with a little coffee/tea corner and little surgery booties so you didn’t have to take your shoes off.

I got to sit in the most comfortable dentist chair with a massager & heater…..talk about total relaxation, as the Dr. was working on my teeth I was cracking up while watching “Friends”.

They really go the extra mile at Nebula Dental Clinic to make your experience the best ever.

I’m a swim Mom!!!

I’m a swim Mom!!!

It’s so funny how among all the things I’m juggling I can actually say I have another thing on my list….yup I’m a swim Mom.

No not a soccer mom….. A SWIM MOM. What does that entail other than the obvious going back and forth to practice….oh so much more! So So much more.

That means I have another job of volunteering for bingo, collecting points by attending clinics and courses, volunteering for meets oh and collecting donations for whatever cause. Sounds like so much and you’d think I’d be complaining….Nope not I!! I’m actually loving it!

I love being part of a team (even though I’m not actually the one swimming), making sure the girls are on time and ready to swim full force and most of all being a cheerleader. I don’t think I know how to be “not busy” it’s a luxury I do not understand.

Making Life Memorable and staying active….

Where are we from???

Where are we from???

The million dollar question of “where are you from?” may be easy to answer for some and challenging for others.

In the Global world we live in today we all have so many cultures, races, countries and beliefs that it would be hard to box us into one.

Take me for example……I don’t consider myself to be from one place. I am a culture on my own….but that’s a whole other post that i’ll save for later!!!

This specific post I dedicate to Nancy NG.

I had the pleasure of meeting her while at Indigo as she was promoting her book. We spoke about the challenge of being from so many different places and I can’t wait to start reading her book.

I mean with a title like “No, Really, Where are YOU from?” I totally get it!

So here’s Making Life Memorable no matter where you’re from.

Don’t save that Glitter!!!

Don’t save that Glitter!!!

In my big move from Kuwait to Canada I was faced with the extreme challenge of putting my life into boxes….. A lifetime of memories, accumulating and collecting was put to the test of ” attempt to sell”, “Give Away”, “Save” or “Pack”.

For every website, Pin, organizing list it was universal in its advice. Sound simple until you actually have to do it! This is in no way a post to help you in packing on the contrary it’s about how you should live leading up to the point of needing to pack.

I always took pride in my double closet in my home office/craft room filled with everything your heart desires when it comes to crafting materials. It was really a miniature craft store on its own from paints, card stock, colored  papers, paintbrushes, crafting tools, Styrofoam , felt, fabric, ribbons, wrapping papers, beads, an array of canvases, paint brushes, sketchbooks, floral supplies and most importantly GLITTER.

In my mind there’s glitter and there’s GLITTER. To the normal person they really sound/look the same. Nope!! not for me. There was regular glitter that I let my girls use and splurge on and there’s GLITTER that was “special glitter” that the girls were only allowed to admire from afar and I was the only one that used it sparingly.

Then the day came that I opened my wonderfully organized and stocked up closet and I had to part with it AAAALLLLL….. The cost of shipping could not be justified in comparison to buying everything new was my husbands perspective, Logic says he’s right but then there’s my crafting logic screaming internally “Precious….its precious!”

I replayed in my head all the times we didn’t use the GLITTER while crafting and the life lesson hit me. Never save anything for that “special” day. Use it and abuse it because you never know where life takes you and you end up looking back like I did at all the missed chances to enjoy it.

So don’t forget use that GLITTER while Making Life Memorable before you have to give it away!!!

Snow to Sun

Snow to Sun

Weather in every Country is super unique and it creates a new appreciation to nature. I’ve never lived anywhere that snowed….let alone continuously cold for long periods of time. I’m now living in Canada that is teaching a new appreciation to both Snow and Sun.

It almost sounds unreal when I say I came from +50 C to -40 C…. hard to really wrap your head around it. As one of my friends said (and I repeat continuously)  “There’s no such thing as bad weather just bad clothing”. I find now with a good coat and boots I can last about 5 minutes outdoors….LOL!!! I actually made myself laugh as I wrote that……

Again its what you make out of it…. snow angels snow men and all

And then when it all melts you have a gorgeous clear sky…..

Your kids get super excited and run up a brown hill that will soon be green…..

………and scream AAAAAALLLL the way down.

It’s all about taking those lemons life gave you and making Lemonade… So Making Life  Memorable is in the palm of your hands!!

Easter at PRAIRIE GARDENS

Easter at PRAIRIE GARDENS

I started off this post writing “I’m so Excite” then I realized this seems to be a reoccurring way to start…  That’s not good blogging technique but hey I’m really excited so I’m thrilled, enthused, delighted….or whatever adjective you choose about what we have planned for today!!!

We are taking the girls to PRAIRIE GARDENS to their Hop! Easter Festival I’m not sure if the girls are going to have much fun as I will!!!

I can’t wait to get there and do everything!!! If you’re interested the details for the00 are:

Good Friday April 14th, Saturday April 15th, Easter Sunday April 16th, and Holiday Monday April 17th.

I’m pretty sure  Prairie Garden will be Making Life Memorable for us this Easter!

Easter Treats….

Easter Treats….

I’m so excited I get to send some treats to school with the girls!!! I’m convinced my DIY hobbies are turning into an addiction…….but still don’t care!!!

Due to some gluten and nut restrictions in class this Easter I’m sending something fun but simple!!! These Easter bags are filled with chocolate and sprinkle coated marshmallows and popcorn. A little sweet and a little salty is what I’m going with.

I also made little tags with the girls names to add something a little more personalized!!! Nothing too fancy just little bunnies on Polka labels with a small “Happy Easter” and each girls’ name.

Found some really cute Easter themes ziplock bags at Dollarama which made it that much easier than designing my own…..plus being Very cost effective!

I’m just keeping true to myself and what I love doing!

Making life Memorable one holiday at a time….

Kisses, hugs & handshakes Oh My!

Kisses, hugs & handshakes Oh My!

Our lives are always ever changing and dynamic as ever. Some may have it all figured out, others are just happy letting it take its course. For us we always want more as a family. More time, more hobbies, more security more more and more of whatever.

After 17 years of my husband being in Kuwait and “letting it take its course” he finally decided its time for much “More” by moving “home” as he calls it. What that more is we have yet to see as our lives unfold with our very courageous (on my part at least) leap of faith.

Leaving my family, friends and life as I know it to a city, province and country that is completely and utterly new. The move to Canada was always inevitable in my husband’s eye. After all our girls and himself are Canadian ….It is their home, their future and their opportunities. But still we go back to all new to me and I basically have the opportunity to reinvent myself and start everything from scratch. New home, new friends, new lifestyle and new everything.

Among so many things to adjust to, which I’m sure i’ll touch base on every once in a while, there is one major thing that I’m finding very different & sometimes awkward and that’s our greetings. Back home the most common way of greeting each other is the 2 cheek kiss. Peck on the right, peck on the left and you’r set. Yes its stereotypical but true Middle Easterners are just really touchy feely in that way. When I was in college in the States it was always a “hello hug” simple and straight to the point. Then off course there’s the universal handshake when its someone you just meet or not very close too. Yet i find myself in Canada standing awkwardly more often than not. I’ve met several people and we have passed the polite handshake yet I realized I’m always the one that’s reaching in for a “hello hug” and because Canadians are known for their politeness they respond. Does that mean there isn’t a hug?? Am I supposed to just walk into a friends house and shrug and say “Hey whatsaaaaaap!”?? Hmmmm I should try that Because up until now (3 months into our move) I still wonder……..

So until I figure out my greeting I’ll continue Making Life Memorable in my own way in our new home!
