Workouts and Challenges
Workouts and Challenges

Ever Since the isolation started my whole routine (as with everyone in the world) has been turned upside down. One of the things I miss is my 5 AM Club…. My happy place of early socializing before the crazy part of my day starts….No it’s not online it’s my morning workout at the gym.

I love it and not for the same reasons others might love it. The 15 minutes of laughs and giggles (mainly me) of when I first enter the gym, then an hour of working out on treadmills, rowers and weights. Me complaining most of the time but still trying my best to keep up with Tina! Her giving me that look that pushed me to reach for the heavier weight or adding a little more on my speed just to catch up to her. Man that lady is my idol. When I grow up I want to be just like her.

Off course lets not forget my dance moves when a really good song comes on. I’ve been told off a few times but hey makes the workouts a whole lot more bearable for me!

Then that hour is over and I get another 15 minutes of socializing. My happy cup is filled and I can start my day on a high!

Well when that all stopped and we had to resort to our own workouts the “At home workouts” weren’t enough. I went through the motions because I knew I needed to stay on track or else the body I’ve worked so hard to achieve will go in a direction I don’t want.

It may come as a shock to many but I really REALLY no REEEEEAALLY don’t like working out. It is not fun! It’s painful and stinky. Don’t get me wrong I love the feeling of accomplishment of going faster or reaching my target weight/rep and whatever else but it’s just not my cup of tea. With that said I know I have to do it if I want to maintain my figure. People might think it’s my fitness level or health I’m worried about…nope! It’s staying a size 2 that’s what I am doing it for. Pure undoubted VANITY.

Where am I going with this….. Simple. I need people, a community or a group to help me work out. I don’t need someone to encourage or motivate me to do the actual workout. I can do them it’s just so boring alone. It’s more about being a part of a group and feeding off of that sense of accomplishment, cheering each other and bonding. I’m smiling just thinking of how fun it is to be working out as a group even if its not physically together.

So when I saw this challenge on facebook I quickly got on that train or should I say BIKE!! Its the Great Cycle Challenge. A biking challenge to raise money for Kids with cancer. You set yourself a target to pedal in August and log your kilometres throughout the month to achieve your goal in the hopes of achieving your fundraising goal.

The best part there’s a complete community that you’re a part of. Both on social media and real life. I’m starting to ride with friends, on my own and posting on the challenge site, getting people’s feedback, seeing people’s accomplishments……I FEEL ALIVE!

The challenge is giving me the physical satisfaction AND emotional, but more importantly it’s for an amazing cause.

9 – Aug – 2020 I’m happy that I’ve reached a milestone.

I still have a lot more to go but with the support of everyone around me both virtually and physically I’m excited to complete this journey with flying colors.

Here’s to Making Life Memorable one Challenge at a time!

Coconut Balls Recipe…..

Coconut Balls Recipe…..
Coconut Balls Recipe…..

I had posted on my Instagram a late night picture of what I was going to make to tame my sweet craving….

Now i’m big on desserts and baking but at such a late hour i didn’t have the luxury of time and wanted to just have something sweet…. That takes less than 20 minutes to be devoured!

First Measure all the required ingredients…. You’ll need

recipe-coconut balls ingredients

Next step is basically Mix ALL ingredients in a food processor until it begins to fold in on itself creating a dough like look.

Using a tablespoon or a mini ice cream scooper ( My personal choice!) Drop the balls of the dough onto parchment paper. ( you could just eat scoops out just like that if you want too!! )

Optional Garnish: To fancy up the balls you can sprinkle the balls with more lime zest.

Freeze the balls for at least 5 minutes if you’re in a hurry….ideally 10-15 minutes will make them completely firm

At this point you have two choices…. Eat the whole batch (totally doable!!! I know) or be a little more sensible and have a few and store the remaining in a ziploc or air tight container in the freezer…..

** You can totally substitute Lemon for the lime!

Cinco De Mayo

Cinco De Mayo

I believe I may have been Hispanic in my past life and funny enough there were many times when I was in college (in Austin, Texas) that so many people would speak to me in Spanish assuming I was. I probably disappointed them when I’d reply in Arabic just for kicks!

Looking back at the 4 years when I was there I really should have lived up “Cinco De Mayo” a lot more. Off course I find myself looking back at MANY situations now and thinking “If only I knew then what I know now” The good thing is as we grow we realize the importance of the little things and try to make up for it all.

So because the weekend is always crammed with all sorts of things and weather is unpredictable we decided to seize the day and have a Barbecue a little earlier….

Soon on the blog will be the recipe for the Maple Pecan Chocolate Balls

Dental Experiences

Dental Experiences

I have the pleasure of being extremely experienced dental patient. I’ve thankfully become very immune to fear of dentists very early on in my life. With basically a full mouth of worked on teeth from basic fillings, crowns, root canals, veneers and implants I’ve had them all…..

With starting a new chapter of my life and moving to Canada one of the first things I had to find (after a Salon to do my roots off course!!) was a dentist…..

That’s when I conveniently met Dr. Amr at the Snowflake festival while he was volunteering. He was super friendly and I instantly felt comfortable. I could only imagine what he would be like as my dentist.

Next step was actually to make an appointment….That took a while but I finally got around to it and went into his clinic.

It was meticulous, clean and amazingly welcoming with a little coffee/tea corner and little surgery booties so you didn’t have to take your shoes off.

I got to sit in the most comfortable dentist chair with a massager & heater…..talk about total relaxation, as the Dr. was working on my teeth I was cracking up while watching “Friends”.

They really go the extra mile at Nebula Dental Clinic to make your experience the best ever.

Thrive in Thrive

Thrive in Thrive
Thrive in Thrive

One thing I know to be true is that we’re always looking for the next best thing. From health, products, food, and even jobs, what’s in and what’s considered last year’s news.

I may have stumbled on something that is the new wave of the future….. Thrive Life products and it makes sense…..

Instead of dehydrating they flash freeze then freeze dry…… Up until I went to the Thrive Event I didn’t even know there was such a thing nor did I know the difference. I’m not going to go scientific but basically freeze dried packs in all the nutrients while dehydrating dissolves it all.

The advantages of the Thrive products is that they are cost effective (you don’t throw away spoiled food as much), tasty, quick (my personal favorite especially when it comes to chopping onions), quality, convenient and healthy.

So what’s the difference??? Well what you’re going to see next blew me away. To think I prefer fresh and get surprised by something like this was pretty shocking to say the least….

So far you think yes that’s a process not so bad no real big issue until………

Don’t get me wrong I still buy fresh produce but to have a few staples in my pantry is surely added value!

The fat burning drink

The fat burning drink

Don’t you wish you have the formula to have the perfect body?? I mean yes I am happy with myself and I do generally feel happy with my body (until I go to a fitting room and realize I chose a few sizes smaller than what I really am!!

I just want to be as skinny as I think I am in my head….. I know I should work out, walk more, control eating….Which I’ve done and succeeded many times but then I get burned out and life just distracts me!

So as I was on my daily pinning spree on pinterest I spotted something that I can’t wait to try. They claim that it will make belly fat disappear faster than ever. Off course I read the article twice over with all the scientific mubo jumbo about what each ingredients’ health benefits and all that. Seems legit! The best part is that the 3 ingredient concoction is added to your daily coffee….So if noting comes out of it I would have just added some extra flavoring to my coffee….No harm in that!

I decided I’m going to give it a try. So come May 25 (a month from now)  I’ll do a follow up post with my finding!!!

Lunchbox and Schedules

Lunchbox and Schedules

I always like to make sure that my kids eat healthy and have a variety of foods so to avoid getting bored of the same packed lunches. When you have a busy schedule like our households planning comes a long way.

The first thing is to figure out a system and lists is the way to go!!! Yest at times life kinda gets in the way and your find yourself limited because you haven’t had time to go to the grocery store. That’s when you may resort to making unhealthy choices because lets face it “It’s Easy!” To avoid that I kinda have some sort of “Go To” choice that may not be completely healthy but its not junky.

My “Go To”, now remember 2 kids mean 2 different taste buds, so my quick fix that i make sure I never run out of in the house is…….. Turkey sandwich (bread for J and lettuce wrap for Zee) pickles on the side, no one likes a soggy sandwich! Cheese cubes, cucumber and apple slices. What’s your “Go To”?? Share in the comment section!

Maybe one day I’ll be fancy enough to make one of those fast videos of me prepping a lunch box  after all its also pushing my boundaries and  Making Life Memorable along the way!!

Change of Weather

Change of Weather

As a parent there’s always this worry and concern about our children’s health. Who’s a good pediatrician? What are the symptoms? Should they be sent to school? And the most worrisome is the infamous FEVER!

With the change of weather and Kuwait starting to get a little cooler our fear becomes oh to real.

A new mommy asked me last week if she should worry about her infant’s temperature…. I am not a doctor by any means but tried to dig down in my memory when the girls were younger and when did I start worrying about them being a little too warm.

Off course the first thing I did was do some research and found a great chart that will help any parent no matter what age your child is.

temp

Please note that this is just a guideline and in no way a doctors recommendations. If you feel your child is feverish you should consult a doctor.

Another good website to check is Advil. There’s a lot of information and help regarding temperature and methods of taking your child’s temperature.

I hope all children are feeling well and don’t need this as a reference.

Good luck in nursing your child and wishing them a speedy recovery in order to keep Making Life Memorable with happier memories.

Quick Fix Dinner

Quick Fix Dinner

There are times in every mother’s life where all she needs is a quick fix dinner because some activity ran too late and bedtime is approaching and there isn’t much time to prepare a “proper” Dinner.

On days like these I often turn to a simple mix & Match of veggies.

Those days I open up my freezer and it’s vegetables feast!!
